Sailor Professional Gear Slim Nihon Express Fountain Pen Shizuoka 14K Nib - Fine is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
The Nihon Express is a new set of limited edition pens from Sailor, celebrating the Tōkaidō road. This began as a road with post stations, linking Edo (which became Tokyo) to Kyoto. The route later became a rail line, which led to the Tōkaidō Shinkansen, the 'bullet train' line connecting major cities, including Tokyo, Shizuoka, Nagoya, Kyoto and Osaka.
There are pens for Tokyo, Shizuoka and Kyoto, featuring designs inspired by Utagawa Hiroshige's woodcut prints, made following his journey on the same route. Though, admittedly, his works back in the 1830s didn't feature the Shinkansen in the foreground.
The pen is 12cm long unposted and 14cm posted and has a diameter of 1.2cm
Features:
- Numbered limited edition, with engraving on the cap ring.
- Only 200 pens were made for each station’s design
- 14K gold nib with rhodium plating
- Inspired by 19th-century Japanese design
- Sent in a presentation box, including the fountain pen, a converter and a 20ml bottle of Nihon Express Dye Ink
Orders placed before 3pm Monday to Friday will normally be sent out the same day.
