Tom's wife Gemma was an avid calligrapher, but the calligraphy pens she was using just didn't look the part next to her beautiful work. Tom used his design experience to make beautiful pens for her to use. And it turned out, calligraphy pens that look as good as the calligraphy they're being used for, are things a lot of other people wanted. So he founded Tom's Studio to create a range of lovely and highly practical calligraphy pens.

What’s the history of Tom’s Studio?
Tom’s Studio is a relatively new company, compared to some of the big names in pens. However, that’s possibly to their benefit. Tom created his studio in response to the limited products available to his wife, Gemma, who does calligraphy. They are of the opinion that ‘we have lost the 'soul' of the products we use in the age of mass production.’ So Tom decided to do better.

Tom’s pens are very design-led, as he has a background in product design and blacksmithing. The result of that is beautiful pens that are made to last. Their pens are made for creative people, and that is reflected in the products they make.

Possibly the most striking product from Tom’s Studio is the Flourish Nib Holder. It’s designed to hold a variety of nib types and is made from recyclable materials such as brass and aluminium. Despite its impressive look, it’s designed to be easy to use for everyone from beginners to professionals.
If you love the designs of Tom’s Studio pens, but are looking for a more ‘standard’ writing pen then look no further than ‘The Wren’. These writing pens have a Japanese-made tip, which allows for a 0.3mm to 0.5mm line width, depending on how much pressure you apply. In keeping with Tom’s Studio's principles of longevity, the pens are refillable with fountain pen ink.
