What’s the history of Filofax?
A company called Norman and Hill Ltd was formed in London, in 1921. Luckily they changed their name to Filofax - we aren’t sure using ‘a Norman and Hill’ would have caught on. They got the name, Filofax, from one of their first products, a loose paper binder called the ‘File of Facts’.
What makes Filofax different?
There are a lot of companies that sell notebooks and organisers, but everyone knows what you mean when you say ‘a Filofax.’ They have been the default product for a physical organiser for decades, and for a product which is so heavily associated with the 1980s, they are still surprisingly popular.
Recommended Filofax products
Part of the beauty of a Filofax is that they are refillable, so assuming you already have one, we would recommend looking at our Filofax refill collection to make sure you can keep using it and keep yourself organised.
We particularly like the Filofax Domino range. They are simple and minimalist, using an elastic loop to keep them together. The standard versions have a leather look to them but aren’t made from leather, and the ‘soft’ versions are made from a nice soft material and come in nice soft pastels to match. For a luxurious leather binder, the Filofax Malden is made from super-soft leather, with a press-stud closure.
