The Namiki Yukari barrel is made from precious resin with an Urushi lacquer coating. The barrel features a really lovely depiction of a traditional Japanese pavilion among the mountains. The beautiful artwork is completed using a technique known as Togidashi Maki-e.
This is a lacquering process where motifs are carved into the lacquered surface with special chisels. Lacquer is inlaid into the grooves and gold powder and other materials - in this case nacre, or mother-of-pearl, - are placed creating striking images in the bodywork of each pen. It is then completely covered with Urushi lacquer and once dried, the design is revealed by burnishing the lacquer with charcoal.
The black barrel and artwork are beautifully complemented by a gold-plated pocket clip featuring the Namiki logo; and an 18-carat gold nib with the Namiki logo and a depiction of Mount Fuji engraved on it.
Supplied with a bottle of black Namiki fountain pen ink in a luxury presentation case with a velvet inlay and a cleaning cloth.
