Designed by Jasper Morrison, the Lamy aion is a beautifully made pen. The simplicity of the design is finished perfectly, with bead-blasted grip and brushed, anodised barrel contrasting with the shiny polished clip and nib. All markings are laser-engraved for accuracy.
The result is a pen that looks really special, while maintaining an understated style. It doesn't grab your attention, but can hold it when you choose to give it. It's a perfect example of the functional and unobtrusive design for which Jasper Morrison has become renowned; working together with the cutting-edge German manufacturing which has made Lamy so respected.
The aluminium barrel is light, while the grip section is much heavier. the result isn't a heavy pen, but has the weight concentrated towards the tip, giving it a solid feel, while keeping the weight where it's easy to control. Posting the cap on the end gives a more top-heavy feel, for those who prefer that.
143mm long capped, 137mm uncapped, 163mm posted. Weighs 32g capped, 22g uncapped.
Use with Lamy cartridges or bottled ink with the Z27 converter which can be purchased separately.
