Named after the company's founding year, the 1911 range was made to maintain the standards of quality and craftsmanship that had made Sailor so well respected from their beginnings. The rounded ends give the 1911 a more classic 'cigar' shape than the Pro Gear range, for those who prefer a more traditional look.
The Maki-e collection involves ancient Japanese decorative techniques that in some cases take a lifetime to master. The Koi Carp plays an important symbolic role in Japanese culture. Found nearly everywhere from rivers to ponds, and shrines to home gardens, it is associated with vitality, strength, success and longevity. They come in all sorts of beautiful vibrant colours and have inspired many myths not just in Japanese culture but in Chinese culture too, where many of the Koi fish legends originate. Going back to tales over 2500 years old, it was said that a Koi fish managed to reach the top of a waterfall on China's Yellow river after 100 years of perseverance and in turn was rewarded by the gods by transforming the Koi into a golden dragon, the ultimate symbol of power and health.
The Koi Carp fountain pen features a depiction of a card in gold on top of a black barrel. The highly polished gold accents complement the design nicely.
14 carat gold medium-fine nib. Refill using Sailor ink cartridges, or fit a converter for use with bottled ink.
