Montblanc Writers Edition Homage to Robert Louis Stevenson pays tribute to the mastermind behind Treasure Island, Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, Kidnapped and A Child's Garden of Verses. Robert Louis Stevenson was a Scottish novelist, essayist, poet and travel writer born in Edinburgh, in 1850. His work is inspired by two simple but great desires: for freedom and for immersing himself in other worlds.
The pen itself takes inspiration from one of his most famous novels: Treasure Island. In true Montblanc fashion, every little detail possible has been crammed into the design of this pen to create a wonderful homage to the great writer. The shape and the rings on the cone combine to create something similar to a spyglass while the black precious resin barrel is engraved with crosses, which includes a larger 'X' to mark the spot.
The vertical lines on the cap are designed to resemble the wooden planks of the schooner "Hispaniola" while the traditional sea chest completes the cap design. The pocket clip is platinum-coated and reminiscent of a belaying pin which the ship rigging would be secured to, and behind it, you'll find the lines converge in a compass rose. The top is finished with the Montblanc logo, which has been integrated into a skull and crossbones design. The cap is finished with Robert Louis Stevenson's signature - which can be found on the cap ring along with the publication date of "The Pentland Rising", 1886, which was his first published work. The dates 1850-1894 can also be found on there to commemorate the years he graced the Earth.
