Bentley and Graf von Faber-Castell each have a distinctive but understated style with a timeless elegance. It made perfect sense for them to work together to make these Bentley pens, which bring some characteristic Bentley design elements to a beautifully handmade collection of writing instruments.
This special Limited Edition Barnato celebrates the pitting in 1930 of the Bentley Speed 6 against le Train Bleu which ran from Cannes to Calais. Bentley Managing Director and Le Mans winner Woolf Barnato bet that he could reach his London club from Cannes before the train reached Calais - and he won his bet. Only by 4 minutes but a win is a win. And he was fined more than his winnings for racing on public roads!
Only 1,930 - in honour of the year the race was won - have been made.
The barrel is Barnato dark green, and features the intricate diamond pattern inspired by the diamond patterning used in many parts of Bentley cars, which is especially noticeable on the grille. A perfectly smooth clear lacquer coats this guilloche patterning, protecting it and making it smooth to the touch. The finial at the top of the cap has the Bentley 'B' logo, surrounded by a small section of diamond-pattern knurling.
The cap itself is gently curved and perfectly polished, and is etched with the signature of Woolf Barnato. The end of the barrel is polished metal, with a concave end matching the styling of other Graf von Faber-Castell pens. The Graf von Faber-Castell styling continues to the practical shape of the internally-sprung pocket clip, though the shape is subtly curved to fit with the look of the cap. These highly polished parts all echo the chromed metal parts of a Bentley car.
Fitted with a beautifully smooth rhodium-plated steel nib. Use the supplied converter for bottled ink, or fit standard international cartridges.
Dimensions: 142mm long capped, 118mm uncapped, weighs 48g. Supplied in a luxury gift box containing information on both the Graf von Faber-Castell and Bentley companies.
Orders placed before 3pm Monday to Friday will normally be sent out the same day.
