To commemorate the birthplace of the Conklin Pen Company, Conklin have created the brand new Toledo collection.
The Conklin Pen Company was established in Toledo, Ohio in 1898 by Roy Conklin. They're famous for ranges including the Duragraph and All American which date back to the 20s and 30s respectively. Roy Conklin patented the design for the first self-filling pen in 1901 and created the Crescent filler filling mechanism.
The mechanism is simple: the barrel contains a rubber ink sac and a cutaway in the barrel allows you to push the crescent through the side of the pen. The crescent is attached to a metal bar that presses against the side of the ink sac, squashing any air or ink out of it; once you release, the sac returns to its original shape, drawing ink into the pen. After a few presses the pen will be completely full.
The Toledo is handcrafted from high grade black resin and features prominent stripes on the barrel. The stripes are Orange and White which contrast well against the black body giving the pen a unique look.
The pocket clip is made from brass with a chrome plating, the cap band is chrome with the word Toledo engraved to it.
Stainless steel nib available in a range of sizes including stub and omniflex options.
Measures:138mm closed, 124mm open, 155mm long posted, barrel diameter: 13.7mm. Weighs 28g.
Supplied in a luxury Conklin gift box with two international standard sized ink cartridges, one in blue and one in black, a warranty card and a refill instruction card. All Conklin writing instruments are guaranteed for life against mechanical failure due to faulty workmanship or materials.
