The Montblanc Maria Callas Special Edition Ruby-Coloured is a tribute to "La Divina" herself, the operatic soprano who commanded La Scala, the Paris Opera and New York’s Metropolitan Opera with equal ease.
The barrel comes in a deep, rich ruby resin, chosen to echo her famous love of ruby jewellery, and the silhouette is slender and graceful in a way that's clearly meant to evoke the lady herself rather than just to look nice (though it does that too).
The details are where this gets properly indulgent. The platinum-coated clip is set with a synthetic ruby-coloured stone shaped like a petal, a nod to a rose bred in her honour in 1965. Wrapped around the cone is a laurel-leaf pattern lifted from her costume in Bellini's Norma, alongside her embossed signature.
