Erasers

Erasers. Lumps of rubber. Rub paper with them, pencil marks disappear. Simple. Nothing more to say. Except...

They really aren't that simple. If you're an artist, you probably know well. If you're not, try asking an artist about erasers. Actually, maybe don't, it might be hard to stop them again. There's a lot of variety, that's what we're trying to say. If you're just looking for a simple block eraser to erase pencil, you can't do much better than the Staedtler Mars Plastic. If you're looking for something more decorative, there are all sorts of novelty erasers, and most of them work perfectly well too.

Kneadable, or Putty erasers are a secret artists usually keep to themselves, but they're erasers with a similar consistency to Blu-tack - squish them into whatever shape you need, and try to do most of the erasing by 'dabbing' rather than rubbing. No, not sticking your head into your elbow, you know what we mean.

We have several erasers in the form of pens, which can support the eraser well, for more detailed erasing - very popular with artists, but these can be very handy in small notebooks too. And even eraser pencils, with the eraser as a core in place of graphite - sharpen them with a pencil sharpener! Yes, we know, we haven't quite got over that being a thing either.
