Manuscript celebrates its long and successful history in pen manufacturing by launching the 1856 luxury fountain pen.
Oyster Mist is a beautiful pale ivory colour, with different shades forming stripes through the barrel and cap. The result does bring to mind the unseen layers built up to form a pearl, or layers of pale sedimentary rock. Unlike rock, though, the resin used is slightly translucent, giving a real feeling of depth.
Crown logo on the end of the cap has been used since D.Leonardt & Co were appointed as penmakers to the kings of Italy, Spain and Portugal, in the 19th century. The family business continues as Manuscript today.
Manuscript are best known for their nibs and calligraphy pens, so you might expect the nibs to be a little different here. Along with the standard Medium 'handwriting' nib, there are the options of 1.1mm or 1.5mm italic nibs, for a bit more style. Italic nibs do need a little more care when writing, especially if you're not used to them, but they reward with more varied lines, and can be used for beautiful calligraphy.
Simple metal clip with '1856' stamped into it.
Length: 139mm capped, 123mm uncapped. 180mm posted - we'd recommend using it unposted. Weight: 20g.
Supplied in a gift box with explanatory leaflet, two ink cartridges and a converter.
Orders placed before 3pm Monday to Friday will normally be sent out the same day.
FREE Royal Mail Standard delivery for orders over £100, and just £3.50 for smaller orders. Royal Mail Priority is available as an option, for £3.50 on orders over £100, £5.50 on smaller orders. Express available for £9, or FREE with any order over £400. No delivery surcharges for Northern Ireland, Highlands & Islands or anywhere else!
