140 years is a long time but they've done it, Kaweco has literally been writing history now since 1883. It started with a simple concept: create writing instruments with passion and love to be loved for a lifetime. Their excellent writing quality helps too of course but Kaweco is a mainstay in the pen world and any pen fan worth their salt could take one look at their pens and say 'that's a Kaweco'. Iconic.
To celebrate their 140th anniversary, Kaweco have done something special in typical Kaweco fashion. They've gone with the tried and true Sport model design which in itself was inspired by products from over a hundred years ago. This one is a bit special though and draws on that historical expertise Kaweco have acquired, going back to a time when making pen bodies was a little more complicated, when injection moulding didn't exist. Ebonite was often the choice material to make pen bodies back then, the material has a similar hardness and colour to hard rubber and being made from a combination of natural rubber and sulphur, the materials are completely natural. The expressive marbling and polished surface make it look like some sort of valuable exotic wood. As the body features sulphur, the body will develop a patina with time bringing on unique characteristics that make each pen one of a kind. If you prefer the original finish though, not to worry, simply give it a polish and it will be restored to its original beauty.
The body is complemented nicely by the gold plating, while the buttery smooth steel nib is also plated in gold. The cap features Kaweco's signature logo on top and 'Kaweco EBONIT Sport is engraved to it.
In addition to the pen, this limited edition collectors set includes a nostalgic clip in gold which can be fixed to the pen. The pen comes with a royal blue ink cartridge inside but there is also a set of 10 cartridges included containing all 10 of Kaweco's ink colours to try out or use your favourite!
