In Japan, cherry trees are planted in many places, often around parks and temples, even in the middle of their biggest cities. The dates for when the cherry blossom, or sakura, will appear are carefully predicted and tracked, with many people travelling to the best viewing places so they can see the sakura for themselves, seeing some of Japan’s most iconic scenes at their very best.
