Cleo Skribent of Germany manufactures a range of classic writing instruments at their base in Bad Wilsnack. The Cleo Messograf is a legendary pen and one of our favourites.
The company was founded just after the Second World War, in a garage, where the company's founder began producing writing instruments. He called his first collection 'Cleopatra' in honour of the industriousness of the ancient Egyptians, which he felt reflected his own approach to manufacturing, and which soon became known simply as 'Cleo'. 'Skribent' - or Scribbler in English - was the name he gave to a series of ink pens, and so the company's name was born.
Cleo Skribent is one of the last remaining companies to manufacture pens entirely within Germany.
