In recent years Cross has become the pen of Presidents with the Century and Townsend being the preferred models. President Biden often opts for a Cross Century II in black lacquer with gold trim. Barack Obama, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton were Cross Townsend users and George H. W. Bush and Ronald Reagan went for the Cross Classic Century.

John F. Kennedy famously used an Esterbrook pen to sign a 1961 NASA budget that would provide the funds to send a man to the moon. He was also a fan of the Montblanc Meisterskuck 149. 

President Trump favoured a no nonsense Sharpie. 

During her time as German premier Angela Merkel didn't go anywhere without her Pentel EnerGel Pen. 

The late Queen Elizabeth II was an avid user of the Parker 51 and Parker have held a Royal Warrant since 1888. Presidents Eisenhower and Truman also often opted for a Parker 51.
