Most works of modern art are stuck in museums but this one still works for a living. In 1966 LAMY set out to design a truly modern pen and called it the 2000, presumably in honour of the year 2000, a time that seemed an impossibly long way off. Well, Y2K has been and gone, but LAMY’s futuristic pen is still around, and still as popular as it ever was. It’s available as the classic 2000 fountain pen or ballpoint, and now with rollerball, pencil and even a 4-colour multi-pen, with a few different finishes thrown into the mix.
