Brass is a great metal for making pens - it doesn't rust, adds a nicely reassuring weight, and it's naturally antibacterial. It's used in a lot of pens, but usually hidden away under a layer of paint of lacquer. If you like your pens to look a bit worn, though, nothing beats leaving the brass exposed - it will age and develop a patina with use that will make it unique.
