In 1898 Roy Conklin, an innovator from Toledo, Ohio USA, founded the Conklin Pen company, and is today regarded as one of the most significant and innovative American writing instruments manufacturers from the golden era of fountain pens.
Today's Conklin Pen Company is striving to continue in the same spirit of bold innovation, while still providing the highest quality available in fine writing instruments.
While most manufacturers these days (with a few exceptions) have dropped any alternatives to cartridge/converter fillers, Conklin are still producing the Crescent Filler pens that made them famous. Endorsed by Mark Twain, the Crescent Filler was considered to be one of the first truly practical self-filling mechanisms for a fountain pen. It allowed the pen to be filled with one hand, and, as Mark Twain noted, made sure the pen couldn't roll off the desk.
