BIC
One of the best-known pen brands in the world, BIC is best known for their original pen, the BIC Cristal. They didn’t invent the first usable ballpoint pen, that was László Bíró - the reason a ballpoint pen is often referred to as ‘a biro’ here in the UK. But BIC did buy the patent, and went on to perfect it. They did this so well that it’s hardly changed since its introduction in 1950.
The M10 retractable is another classic design from BIC, with the side button to release and retract the tip. And back when some of us were growing up, the BIC 4-Colour was the very pinnacle of technology. A ballpoint pen with black, blue, red and green tips, all in one? Amazing! Yes, ok, ok, but it was a simpler time, we didn’t have much entertainment. We thought digital watches were a pretty neat idea.
