Namiki Tradition fountain pens are made with the most extraordinary attention to detail. These pens are created by highly-skilled craftsmen using ancient techniques, and result in truly beautiful pieces of work. And because they are pens, they make an everyday act - in this case, writing - a real pleasure.
The designs relate to traditional Japanese culture, including dragons, flowers and origami. They are created using 'Hira Maki-e', a technique that uses coloured Urushi and raw lacquer covered in silver and gold powder. Once dry, several layers of Urushi are applied and then polished to a deep, lustrous shine.
The Urushi lacquer is harvested from a type of sumac tree at a very specific time of the year. It's then processed to ensure its durability. The designs are created by an exclusive group of artists - the Kokkokai, or 'Group of the Nation's Light' - who spend many years perfecting their particular technique - and they concentrate on only one technique in their lifetime. Each design is incredibly detailed and involves both the barrel and the screw-on cap.
Created in-house at Namiki, the nibs are made from 14 carat Japanese gold and tipped with iridium.
Supplied in a luxury wooden gift box with a 60ml bottle of black Namiki ink and a converter.
Orders placed before 3pm Monday to Friday will normally be sent out the same day.
FREE Royal Mail Standard delivery for orders over £100, and just £3.50 for smaller orders. Royal Mail Priority is available as an option, for £3.50 on orders over £100, £5.50 on smaller orders. Express available for £9, or FREE with any order over £400. No delivery surcharges for Northern Ireland, Highlands & Islands or anywhere else!
